Katherine studied at the Royal Academy of Music with William Bennett, Sebastian Bell and Kate Hill. During her five years there, which were marked with prizes and accolades, she won the Academy's highest award for performance, the prestigious DipRAM. Since leaving she has been made a Fellow of the RAM.
Having been principal flute with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales for four years, Katherine was delighted to be given the opportunity to take up the same position with the Hallé in 2004. In the midst of her busy orchestral career and no less demanding job as mum to three boys, Katherine loves to devote as much time as she reasonably can to chamber music.
She has performed at festivals and music societies across the country and Europe, either as part of a number of well-known ensembles or in a solo capacity.
