Mandy’s passion for the cello was ignited at the age of 8 after she heard a professional string quartet perform live in her primary school and from that moment on she was hooked! She then began lessons in school, progressed through the various county music ensembles and at age 18 was offered a place at Trinity College of Music London where she was awarded the Leonard Smith ‘cello prize.
Since leaving college she has been active as both a performer and educator. She has played with numerous orchestras including the Bournemouth Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, Northern Chamber, Lancashire Sinfonietta, Bournemouth Sinfonietta and English National Ballet to name a few. She has performed on many CD’s, recordings and has been fortunate to tour many parts of the world having the privilege of performing in some of the world’s finest concert halls in Europe, USA and Lapland in the process!
A committed and passionate advocate of education and outreach work she is not only active as an instrumental cello teacher but has also undertakes numerous and varied projects. She is the cello tutor of the Lancashire county orchestras, something that is dear to heart, as she strives to “put something back” and inspire the next generation of up and coming musicians in her home county.
