The Orchestra and Creative Team
The Picture House Orchestra is a professional orchestra comprising some of the country’s top musicians, drawn from orchestras including the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Concert and LSO amongst others.
Our players have been chosen not only for their incredible musical skills but also for their fun, friendly nature; important when performing to a young audience who may have never seen or heard a live orchestra before. The orchestra is conducted by the BBC Symphony Orchestra’s Steve Magee, an expert in syncing music to film with split-second precision.
Steven Magee conducts and coaches many UK orchestras and ensembles and has conducted all 186 performances of The Snowman for Carrot Productions, and recently 39 performances of Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels across the UK. He enjoys the variety of his many musical activities, encompassing performing with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducting, tutoring, adjudicating and recording.
Musical Marvels is presented by the charismatic and multi-talented Matthew Sharp. An internationally renowned musician, actor, director and performer, Matthew is recognised as both a compelling classical artist and a fearless pioneer, with his adventures in music and across disciplines described as ‘unrivalled’ and ‘unprecedented’. He performs at major venues and festivals worldwide as solo cellist, baritone, actor and director.
