Open Score CIC
Open Score exists to serve and benefit disabled children, young people, and adults, including those with moderate to profound and multiple learning disabilities (MLD, SLD, and PMLD), their families, and the schools and communities that support them.
We remove barriers to cultural participation, ensuring that everyone has the chance to experience the transformative power of live classical music.

As a non-profit social enterprise, the revenue Open Score generates when it runs musical projects and performances is reinvested to help make live music more accessible to people who might not otherwise experience it.

Our vision
We envision a world where disabled children, young people and adults can fully access and enjoy live classical music alongside their families and communities.
Children and families are at the heart of everything we do as we strive to break down the true barriers to accessing live music and engage and enthuse children in the wonder and joy of music.

Our work and impact
Open Score CIC turns our vision into action through performances, workshops, and family events that are inclusive, engaging, and transformative. Each programme is designed to inspire creativity, build confidence, and make live classical music accessible to all.
Inclusive performances and workshops
We deliver high-quality, bespoke classical music performances in schools, special schools, community venues, and public spaces. These experiences are fully accessible and engaging for participants of all abilities.
Alongside performances, our hands-on workshops, CPD sessions and residences give children, young people and adults the opportunity to explore music creatively, develop skills, and engage directly with our professional musicians.
Family-focused events
Families are central to our work. We provide family-friendly performances and events, enabling disabled participants and their families to share high-quality cultural experiences together in welcoming, sensory-friendly environments, strengthening bonds through shared musical experiences.
Our work will ensure that disabled people and their families, who are often excluded from cultural participation, can experience the transformative power of live classical music.
Professional development for musicians
Open Score also invests in training for musicians, equipping our performers with the confidence and skills needed to deliver inclusive programmes.
By upskilling musicians in SEND and inclusive practice, we ensure that all activities are delivered to the highest standard and will continue to benefit more participants over time.
Impact on participants and communities
Participation in Open Score activities helps children, young people, and adults build confidence, creativity, and self-expression, while also improving communication and wellbeing.
Schools, community groups, and families benefit from enhanced cultural provision, and our work promotes inclusion, participation, and understanding across wider communities.

Accessibility and inclusivity
Open Score CIC is committed to keeping all activities accessible and affordable. Performances and workshops are open to all disabled children, young people, and adults, regardless of background, and families, carers, and schools are always welcome. Whenever possible, events are also open to the wider public, promoting understanding and inclusion across communities.
As a not-for-profit company, any surplus is reinvested to:
-
Expand access to inclusive music education for children and families, particularly those facing social or economic barriers.
-
Develop and deliver bespoke sensory-friendly performances, workshops, and outreach programmes in partnership with schools, venues, and local authorities.
-
Invest in training and resources to upskill musicians, educators, and facilitators in inclusive practice.
-
Strengthen monitoring and evaluation frameworks to evidence impact and improve programme design.
-
Support the sustainability and growth of the CIC, ensuring long-term benefit to the communities we serve.
