The Snowman™ and The Snowdog
The magic and wonder of The Snowman, created by Raymond Briggs over 40 years ago, continues to enchant families and fans today. First published in 1978 as a picture book, the film has become part of what makes Christmas for many families. Along with the 2012 sequel The Snowman and The Snowdog, the two films have been nominated or won an Academy Award, a BAFTA and a Bulldog award.
Carrot Productions has staged The Snowman for over a decade, with more than 400 performances to date. We are delighted to have been commissioned by Penguin to adapt The Snowman and The Snowdog for live performance to film, with the premiere scheduled in Winter 2024.

Howard Blake
Howard Blake, OBE, is an English composer, conductor, and pianist whose career has spanned more than 50 years, and produced more than 650 works. Blake's most successful work is his soundtrack for The Snowman film, which includes 'Walking in the Air'.
“I was walking on the beach and this tune came into my head” wrote Briggs. “And I thought, ‘That’s it!’. It just came to me, and I wrote it on an envelope". When Blake saw the hand-drawn images of the boy and the snowman, he immediately said, “That’s where that tune belongs!”.
Raymond Briggs
Raymond Briggs, CBE, was an English illustrator, cartoonist, graphic novelist and author who achieved critical and popular success among adults and children throughout his lifetime.
He produced a treasure trove of books including Father Christmas, Fungus the Bogeyman, When the Wind Blows, The Bear and Ethel & Ernest.
His best-known work, The Snowman, was voted one of The Greatest Children’s Books of All Time in a 2023 BBC Culture poll of 177 book experts from across 56 countries.
