Tens of thousands of families experienced the magic of The Snowman in a whole new way during Christmas 2018. The world’s most prolific performers of The Snowman film with live orchestra, Carrot Productions were delighted to once again tour their delightful Christmas show.
The concert opened with a toe-tapping Christmas Medley followed by a fun introduction to the orchestra. All the instruments were presented in a fun and approachable way, offering the young audience members the valuable experience of seeing – and hearing – the instruments individually.
Following this there was one of two exclusive films:
A Donkey’s Tale
The world premiere of a brand new work created especially for us by Daniel Whibley. Set amidst the wild landscape of Connemara in the west of Ireland, it tells the heartwarming story of Dillon, an ordinary donkey with an extraordinary dream that takes him on a journey that will change his life. This stunning animated film with accompanying musical score looks set to become a firm favourite for all ages.
The Bear and the Piano
This beautifully-illustrated tale of music, friendship and adventure was first brought to the big screen in 2017, in a specially commissioned version by Carrot Productions which captures the essence of the original. With music by Daniel Whibley played live by a professional orchestra, and a narration recorded by superstar Joanna Lumley this entrancing creation looks set to become a family favourite for the next generation.
The Snowman film was then projected onto the screen, accompanied by a local child soloist singing the timeless “Walking In The Air”, and the Picture House Orchestra playing the iconic score live in perfect synchrony with the film.
As featured in The Guardian, The Sunday Times and The Telegraph.
