On Tuesday 20 May the first ever live orchestral version of the hit CBeebies' show, Musical Storyland Live – for which our Artistic Director, Daniel Whibley, composed all the music – took place at Aviva Studios in Manchester.

“It's so rewarding knowing that Musical Storyland  has been enjoyed by so many young children and their families. To see their enjoyment in person at this live show was incredibly special” Daniel Whibley

Following on from last year's CBeebies Television series (which was awarded the Royal Television Society's Kay Benbow Award for Best Pre-school Children's Programme), the fantastic programming team at the BBC alongside Daniel and our Managing Director, Rachel Whibley, created Musical Storyland Live.

The musicians of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and storyteller Sean Chandler were joined by an excited live audience for the interactive show. Featuring three stories from the multi award-winning CBeebies television series Musical Storyland, the event was a huge success.

Did we mention Daniel is also our Artistic Director? We might be just a little bit proud...!

More chances to hear Daniel Whibley's incredible music live

If you missed out on tickets for the first ever Musical Storyland Live, we have two very exciting announcements! There will be not one, but two opportunities to hear Daniel's incredible musical compositions and arrangements played live by world-class musicians over the summer: Musical Beasts at Glossop Music Festival and the CBeebies Prom.

On Saturday 21 June, 2025, Carrot Productions will be bringing our highly acclaimed show Musical Beastsa magical introduction to music and storytelling for young audiences and their grown-ups – to Glossop in the beautiful Peak District. There will be two performances of Musical Beasts at 10am and 11.30am as part of a six-event line-up at their 2025 Summer Festival.

Daniel's music provides the live soundtrack for the brand new animation of David Litchfield's book, The Bear, the Piano, the Dog and the Fiddle, with narration specially recorded by superstar Michael Sheen. The show also features our live, interactive version of Peter and the Wolf for wind quintet and piano – with our costumed musicians bringing the story to life like never before in Daniel's superb arrangement of the Prokofiev classic!

With coffee, cold drinks, cake, free crafts and a chance to meet the musicians up-close and see their instruments, this is the perfect Saturday morning treat for the whole family! Please come and join us, and say hello to us at the end of the show!

Glossop Music Festival's Education Programme for Schools

Carrot Productions are also collaborating with Glossop Music Festival to provide an extensive education programme for schools and special schools on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 June.

There are still a few tickets available for both mainstream and special schools. The programme includes the schools concerts or relaxed performance for SEN students, an in-school visit by one of our musicians, a raft of complementary resources and free CPD for staff with a professional musician and music therapist. All of this is included for the bargain price of £7.50 per pupil, with free places for staff.

If you are connected with a mainstream school, a special school or are a home educator in the Manchester, Stockport, Tameside or High Peak area, please get in touch if you are interested in hearing more about this opportunity.

Following the performance at The Royal Albert Hall in 2022, the magical multi-media event embarked on a national tour in 2023. Featuring CBeebies theme tunes, orchestral treats, live action and animated sequences, the performances were huge hits with the audiences. You can enjoy this wonderful event on BBC iPlayer.

“We are beyond thrilled to have Carrot Productions return to Glossop Music Festival for the fourth consecutive year, and know our audiences are in for a treat. The feedback each year is phenomenal - put simply, they are world leaders in the fields of both music education and musical entertainment.
