“Music in education is extremely important to us at Carrot Productions, and we have placed an emphasis on creating productions for this sector"
Co-Founder and Musical Director of Carrot Productions
As the Co-Founder and Musical Director of Carrot Productions, Daniel has been instrumental in developing and touring our many innovative musical productions, including popular shows such as The Snowman, Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. In addition to the main films, Daniel creates works to be played alongside them, often writing the narration as well as the scores.
Aardman
Daniel was commissioned by Aardman to produce scores and parts for all four Wallace & Gromit films, as well as to create additional material for Wallace & Gromit in Concert and a brand-new Shaun the Sheep compilation film. He has also been immortalised in his very own Aardman-inspired model!
BBC
He is regularly commissioned by the BBC, including music for family concerts, documentaries, BBC Proms and CBeebies and often features on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, 5Live and 6Music. Daniel has composed regularly for CBeebies including: Mr Tumble Live in Concert, the CBeebies Prom (touring the UK this summer), the series Musical Storyland and the chart-topping hit The Gingerbread Man, which has received over one million views.
Four Notes - Paul's Tune
Daniel wrote and arranged Four Notes, based on the improvisation by Paul Harvey. It was performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and released as a digital download in October 2020. Featured on BBC Breakfast, and widely broadcast on radio, it reached number one on the UK Singles Download Chart and helped raise millions of pounds for Alzheimer’s research and the music therapy charity, Music for Dementia.
2024
2024 is shaping up to be another very busy year for Daniel! He already has five brand-new commissions – The Snowman and the Snowdog, Stand By For Action!: 2, The Bear, the Piano, the Dog and the Fiddle, Pride Classical for Pride in Liverpool and Fantastic Fairy Tales – with other exciting projects in the pipeline.
“The Musical Storyland creative process was really interesting because I was brought in at the very beginning to devise the whole thing; we wanted to make music the focal point of telling the story rather than something happening in the background"
